Thurston County Jail Roster
The official adult jail roster is maintained by the Thurston County Sheriff's Office Corrections Bureau for the Thurston County Corrections Facility roster page. The county describes the roster as current inmate population information for the jail. It is updated hourly and does not include names of people who have already been released. For custody questions that the roster does not answer, the county points users to the reception desk at 360-709-5900.
The roster is narrower than many people expect. It covers present adult custody at the Thurston County Corrections Facility, not juvenile detention, not sentenced prison custody at Cedar Creek Corrections Center, and not federal or immigration detention. The separate released-inmates list shows people released yesterday and is updated each morning at 12:01 AM. Older booking and release facts move into jail-record request channels.
The county roster page is shown on the official Corrections Facility roster search source.
The screenshot matters because it shows the county's own hourly-update notice, current-population scope, and reception phone fallback in one place.
Use Thurston County Inmate Search
The direct search form is simple. The legacy roster form accepts all or part of a last name, and it also links to the complete current-inmate list. A short name fragment can help when a last name may be hyphenated, misspelled, or entered under a slightly different form. The result list displays names last-name-first, and each name links to a charge information page.
- Open the county roster landing page or the direct roster form.
- Enter all or part of the last name. Use fewer letters if the spelling is uncertain.
- Click Search, or use the complete current-inmate list when a name search is too narrow.
- Open the linked name to view court, cause number, charge, bail, arrest date, and VINE access.
- If no match appears, check yesterday's releases, call 360-709-5900, and search WA VINE or DOC when transfer is possible.
There were no visible advanced filters in the accessible form. No booking-number field, date search, status filter, facility dropdown, export control, or pagination tool was captured in the research. That makes the complete list useful when a person may be booked under an unexpected name or when a partial last-name search returns too few results.
Thurston County Roster Fields
The roster search fields are limited enough that a field table is more useful than a long set of search tips. The best first pass is the last name. The complete list can then confirm whether the person is still in custody before a records request or phone call is made.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enter Last Name | Text | Unspecified | Enter all or part of the person's last name. A fragment such as "jo" may return Johnson, Johnston, Jones, and similar names. |
| Click here to display a list of all current inmates | Link/action | Optional | Opens the full current-inmate list without a name query. |
The search form itself appears in the captured Thurston County legacy roster form.
The form confirms that Thurston County inmate records are reached through a last-name search and a complete-list link, not through a broad multi-field booking database.
Thurston County Inmate Record Details
A sampled Thurston County charge page did not look like a full jail-management profile. It was labeled "Charge Information for Inmate" and showed case-facing fields. That is useful for confirming the court path, but it does not publish every fact a family member may want. Booking time, release time, manner of release, and older incarceration dates are obtained through the jail-record request forms when the roster does not show them.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Full inmate name. The list page shows last-name-first, while the detail page shows first, middle, and last in quotation marks. |
| VINE link | A custody-notification link or icon appears on the charge page. |
| Court | The court responsible for the charge, such as Superior Court. |
| Cause Number | The Washington court case or cause number tied to the charge. |
| Charge | The listed offense or offenses connected to the custody record. |
| Bail | Dollar amount and bondability status when visible. |
| Arrest Date | Date of arrest in month/day/year format. |
| Mugshot, demographics, housing | Not visible in the accessible sample record. |
| Booking and release facts | Available through TCCF jail-record request forms, not visible on the sampled charge page. |
Note: A listed charge is not the same as a conviction, and filed court charges may change after prosecutor review.
Request Thurston County Jail Records
When the live roster is too thin, the next local channel is a jail-record request. The Thurston County Sheriff's Office has two jail records request PDFs: one for the last incarceration date and one for all TCCF incarceration dates. Both are built around the public jail-register rule in RCW 70.48.100. The free fields listed on the forms include arrestee name, date and time booked, cause or charges, date and time of release, and manner of release.
The county also uses the Thurston County Public Records Center for online public-records requests, status tracking, and public archive access. The TCSO Records and Public Disclosure Section lists TCSORecords@co.thurston.wa.us, records phone 360-786-5522, Public Disclosure Section phone 360-596-5155, and a five-business-day Public Records Act response note. Full criminal history is not a jail-record request. The TCCF forms point people to Washington State Patrol WATCH for that purpose.
| Need | Best Local Channel | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Current adult custody | County roster or reception desk | The roster updates hourly and reception handles jail-specific status questions. |
| Released yesterday | Released-inmates page | The county posts a daily list at 12:01 AM. |
| Older TCCF booking dates | Jail records request form or GovQA | The roster excludes released names and does not show older booking history. |
| Police incident records | TCSO records or city police P2C where relevant | Police reports are separate from jail custody records. |
Thurston County Custody Systems
Not every person arrested in Thurston County stays in the adult county jail system. A person may be moved to state DOC custody after a felony sentence, held at a tribal or regional facility, taken into federal custody, or housed in juvenile detention. The correct locator depends on who has legal custody, not only where the arrest happened.
| Custody Type | Where to Search | Local Distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Adult county jail | Thurston County roster | Current pretrial and local sentenced custody at TCCF. |
| Sentenced state prison | Washington DOC incarcerated search | Cedar Creek Corrections Center is a DOC prison, not a county jail. |
| Custody notification | WA VINE or 1-877-846-3492 | Used for status alerts and appears from the county charge page. |
| Federal custody | BOP inmate locator | No BOP prison was located inside Thurston County. |
| Immigration custody | ICE Online Detainee Locator | Used for ICE custody or CBP custody over 48 hours. |
| City police reports | Police to Citizen | Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, Yelm, and Tenino use P2C for police records, not jail roster search. |
Juvenile detention is separate. Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court Detention is court-run youth detention, and juvenile names should not be expected in the adult public jail roster.
Thurston County Inmate Facilities
The local facility map matters because four different custody settings may appear in a Thurston County inmate records search. The adult sheriff's jail is the main roster source. Juvenile detention, state prison, and Nisqually custody require different contacts or locators.

Thurston County Jail Visiting Records
After a person is found in the Thurston County jail roster, visit and contact rules are handled through the Corrections Bureau, not the court case search. The county says all visitation is by video. Visits can be from home or off site, while onsite public video stations are closed until further notice. ViaPath or GettingOut handles remote visits, scheduling, accounts, and funds. Defendants must accept the visit, and visitation is not instant.
| Topic | Thurston County Rule |
|---|---|
| Video visit window | 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, seven days a week and holidays. |
| Unavailable times | Noon to 1:00 PM and 5:00 to 6:00 PM. |
| Visit length | Limited to 30 minutes when other visits are scheduled. |
| Free remote time | ViaPath has provided 60 free remote minutes per inmate per week. |
| ID | Current valid picture identification is required. |
| Minors | Visitors under 18 must use video visitation from home or another offsite location. |
Mail Money and Phone Access
Thurston County uses a centralized mail address for inmate mail: Thurston County Corrections Facility, inmate name, 2000 Lakeridge Dr SW, Bldg #3, Olympia, WA 98502. The county says the corrections campus does not have mail service. Mail is scanned and delivered electronically, and originals are provided on release. Allowed mail includes letters without stickers, some greeting cards, US Postal Money Orders, US Treasury checks, and up to eight 4 by 6 photographs.
Money may be deposited in person during reception hours or by mail with approved instruments. Payroll checks, personal checks, business checks, and two-party checks are not accepted. Funds deposited to an inmate account become the inmate's property and are not the same as bail. Phone service is through GTL. Inmates cannot receive calls, staff will not relay messages, and three-way calls are prohibited. A confirmed first violation can result in a $25 charge.
